This training course will enable delegates with no previous experience to acquire basic safe skills and to produce welding joints to a satisfactory standard on Mild Steel and Stainless Steel.

Course Overview

Theory covered:

· Safety Facts

· Principle of the TIG process

· Torches and ancillary equipment

· DC power source and their use

· Edge preparation and welding conditions

Assessment is checked by observation while welds are being made (Correctness of Weld Conditions). Completed welds will be destructively tested to evaluate their soundness using BS4872 Part 1 standards

Practical Exercises:

Carried out on 1.6mm Mild Steel, 0.9mm to 3.25mm Stainless Steel

WELD TYPES: Square Edge Closed Corner, Fillet Weld, Square Edge Lap, Square Edge Closed Butt
