Who Should Attend?

Benefits of Attending

· To provide an understanding of the MIG process and how to obtain acceptable MIG welded joints.

· To also provide practice on a range of applications to enable a beginner to set the conditions for that range and produce welded joints

To familiarise the beginner with the functions of the equipment and recognise and rectify common faults.

Course Overview

Theory covered:

· Safety Factors

· Principle of the MIG process

· Types of shielding gases and electrode wire

· Common weld defects and how to avoid them

· Equipment terminology

Assessment is checked by observation while welds are being made (Correctness of Weld Conditions). Completed welds will be destructively tested to evaluate their soundness using BS4872 Part 1 standards

Practical Exercises include:

Mild Steel 1.2mm to 6.3mm

Wire Size 0.8mm
