Portable Appliance Testing

The course is practical and theoretical based in nature and will enable the delegate to carry out testing and also make the delegate aware of the associated records that need to be maintained.

Who Should Attend?

This programme is aimed at all staff who are responsible for the inspection and testing of portable electrical appliances to comply with the Electricity at Work Regulations.

Delegates should ideally have Approved Electrician status with a good understanding of the IEE Wiring Regulations (BS7671) - in addition, the delegates skill and ability should comprise the following:

  • Experience of the relevant electrical work
  • Experience of appliance testing and the test equipment
  • Be able to interpret the test results
  • Practical “technical” experience of the type of equipment being tested
